"Photography isn't really my thing. I don't particularly care for it. But during my tenth grade year I went through some things and got into some trouble. I wanted to change myself. I started looking at my life in a different perspective, so that I could understand myself more. I wanted to to see what others saw in me. When my counselor told me about Youth in Focus, I decided to take the class and see what it was about. I learned a lot of great things, things that I never knew about photography. It turned out that I liked it. And I do like it. I am happy that I took this class. I am proud of myself for going out and doing something new. I am proud because that's not who I was before I got into all of that trouble. I had fun and got to meet some really cool people. People who I hope to remain friends with. I am proud to be who I am and what I have grown to be. I am a new person because of this class. Thank you Youth in Focus."

NEW CLASS
Thanks to a grant from Adobe, we'll soon be adding an advanced digital class to our course offerings. The class will provide our students with digital SLR and Photoshop skills that build on what they've learned in our Basic Digital class.
GREEN ELECTIVE
Thanks to a generous gift from Paul and Debbie Brainerd, in our Fall 2007 quarter we'll be offering an advanced elective: SHADES OF GREEN. The class will challenge students to examine their relationship to the natural world.
Exhibits & Recognition
MUSEUM PROJECT
Four YIF students have contributed work to be included in the permanent exhibits of the new Northwest African American Museum, opening in the spring of 2008. Jaesun, Hannah, Paloma and Chlöe worked on photographs exploring their sense of what the future holds.
PIKE PLACE PROJECT
In honor of the 100th anniversary of Pike Place Market, students Jaesun, Andi, Aviona and Alejandra photographed varying perspectives on this Seattle icon. Final work was exhibited in Macy's window downtown.

STRATEGIC PLAN
The Board has selected Lara Littlefield and The Collins Group to guide the update of our strategic plan. Over the next several months, we'll examine our goals for the future and how best to continue YIF's success.
